How long have you been playing paintball?
On and off since early 2007
What is your strongest quality as a player?
I believe my strongest quality is my ability to remain calm and collected in any situation and communicate with confidence to my team.
Amanda Setzer No. 21
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
I'm not sure I can narrow it down to just one person, two come to mind currently.
#1 - John Christ of Wolfpack. He was the first influential person to take me seriously when I wanted to enter into the world of tournament paintball over 10 years ago. He offered a ton of advice, helped me find teams and always checked up on me. I'm still receiving advice from him to this day. I'm truly grateful for having him help me navigate the industry and make a positive name for myself.
#2 - Dave Bains - Coach of Impact. I became a fan of Dave Bains after watching Impacts repeat wins on the webcast. Dave plays the same position that I intend to excel at and I've always admired how much of an impact he had on the field (no pun intended). I also admire his coaching style and how he helps players move up the ranks to become pro.
How has your journey with TEAM USA been so far?
It's been extremely invigorating. Our first practice was very productive and left us with a lot of homework. I'm excited to see how we progress through the season on and off the field.
Have you traveled or played paintball outside of the country before?
I have, I've played 3 full seasons in Canada when the CXBL was around, and this will be my 4th season heading over to Europe.
I also played an event in Cancun, Mexico a few years back.
Seconds before the buzzer sounds, what do you think of?
Usually where my first shot is going to be, although I am taking Greg Pauley's advice going forward, on counting down the buzzer to help myself and my teammates leave the box as early as legally possible.
If you could have one superpower what would it be?
The ability to read someones mind, this way I could know the other teams plays!
What is your biggest goal in your paintball career?
I’d like to continue to play at a higher level each year. I want to finish off every practice feeling like I added to my momentum. I like to set small goals over a length of time, the end goal for 2019 will be to have won the 2019 Nations Cup with team USA.
2019 Combine Notes:
Amanda is the stalwart player you want directing your team. The experience, awareness and overall field generalship she showed at the Paintball Combine made her an easy selection for Team USA. Whether it be holding a lane or following up the play, she can always be counted on to do her job
